Anti-globalization
Anti-globalization: a complex protest action apparently based on the proposition that it is possible, through a combination of international economic cooperation and the pursuit of autarky, to assist the development of developing countries. Views abound on how this should be done, and there is no unanimity among its proponents on the best way to achieve this aim. However, adherents of such views seem to be convinced that, but for the efforts of the WTO, the IMF, the G-7 or the G-8, etc., their aims would be realized speedily. Many anti-globalists also oppose the validity of the principles included by the Washington Consensus. See also globalization.
