Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work
Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work: adopted by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in June 1998. It holds that all members of the ILO have an obligation to promote and realize the following rights: (a) freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining, (b) the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labour, (c) the effective abolition of child labour, and (d) the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation. To achieve these aims, the Declaration offers a program of technical cooperation and advisory services. It also stresses that labour standards should not be used for protectionist trade purposes. See also Convention concerning the Prohibition and Immediate Action for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour, core labour standards and trade and labour standards.
