Mp3 – moving pictures executive group level-1 layer 3. A digital data compression format that reduces an audio file to around one-tenth of its original size. Devised primarily as a fast and efficient method of downloading large audio files via the internet, mp3 players have become popular due to their compact size, high quality and huge storage capacity. It is now possible to have an entire cd collection stored on an mp3 player the size of a mobile phone.
