Strategic trade theory
Strategic trade theory: the idea that governments can adopt domestic policies promoting the emergence and development of industries likely to become significant exporters. The implementation of this theory is almost always based on subsidies or protection of one kind or another, though its proponents on the whole have not advocated such crude action.
