Meaning of Pitch

Pitch 1. A shot where the ball flies in a high arc and does not roll much on landing 2. When a ball pitches, it hits the ground, eg the ball pitched next to the hole and rolled a few feet past (golf) (chambers. Sports factf.,2005, 293P.) Pitch 1. To throw the ball to the batter 2. A ball thrown to the batter (baseball) (chambers. Sports factf.,2005, 87P.)
